Camphor laurel grows in Australia, but being an introduced species that has prolific seed production and grows rapidly in many areas it has taken over native vegetation. In northern New South Wales, along the east coast, the trees are controlled and often removed and replaced with native trees. The timber is beautiful and value adding to this resource is encouraged. This makes it a coveted material for woodworkers looking for a decorative, workable timber. The wood has a distinct fragrance and with its antibacterial properties makes it suitable as a cutting board and for serving food.
A selection of cutting boards and serving platters made from Australian Camphor Laurel timber are available in our store in Fiskars village. Each is unique and they range in size so please enquire for current stock in addition to these one listed online.
