Trails cabinet

Trails is part of Lasse Kinnunen's collection of unique cabinets featuring camphor laurel and gidgee. Complementing these striking timbers are Lasse's custom made stainless steel hinges and handles.

Each cabinet made by Lasse is unique and designed to accentuate the beauty of the wood. Please enquire also for commission pieces.

Origins collection: For this evolving collection Lasse designs and hand crafts timber furniture in which he reveals the material and communicates craftsmanship. His intent is to make local furniture craft visible and promote it as an alternative to homogeneous design. While aesthetically unique, each item is manufactured by Lasse to a high commercial standard, made to last a lifetime.

About camphor laurel: Camphor laurel that we used in our furniture grows in Australia. It is an introduced species, brought over from Asia 200 years ago, and has spread widely along the east coast. The tree propagates quickly and takes over the native trees' habitats therefore locally it has been classified as a weed. Its removal means that the beautiful wood becomes available for woodworkers and furniture makers. Availability of the wood is unpredictable so Lasse constantly searches for beautiful pieces for his next project. Using this otherwise discarded wood in the production of quality furniture pieces means that we are utilising a resource in an ecological manner. Camphor laurel wood maintains its unique aroma throughout the life of the furniture piece.
